VI CONGRESSO IBÉRICO DA DEHESA E DO MONTADO

O VI Congresso Ibérico da Dehesa e do Montado terá lugar nos dias 27, 28 e 29 de outubro de 2026, em Badajoz. A sexta edição deste encontro reunirá gestores e proprietários de explorações, produtores, investigadores, representantes da administração pública, universidades, centros tecnológicos, empresas e outras entidades ligadas ao ecossistema Dehesa-Montado.

Depois de várias edições dedicadas à análise dos principais problemas e desafios destes sistemas agroflorestais, o Congresso deste ano pretende centrar-se nas soluções que já estão a ser testadas e aplicadas no terreno. O objetivo é dar a conhecer experiências e iniciativas que podem contribuir para responder aos desafios que se colocam à Dehesa e ao Montado e, ao mesmo tempo, mostrar que existem caminhos concretos para o futuro destes sistemas.

O programa inclui apresentações, e sessões de debate com especialistas portugueses e espanhóis, abordando diversos temas tais como a gestão do arvoredo, dos solos e das pastagens, o pastoreio regenerativo, a inovação tecnológica, ou a valorização dos produtos e a procura de novos mercados e formas de financiamento.

Haverá ainda um dia de visitas de campo e demonstrações no terreno, durante o qual os participantes poderão conhecer algumas das soluções apresentadas no Congresso e contactar diretamente com experiências de gestão. Haverá ainda sessões dinâmicas dedicadas à apresentação e divulgação de outras iniciativas e projetos.

O Congresso contará igualmente com um espaço para a apresentação de trabalhos científicos e técnicos relacionados com a Dehesa e o Montado. Entre as sessões previstas estará uma apresentação dedicada aos resultados do projeto LIFE SCRUBSNET, do qual a Universidade de Évora é parceira, permitindo dar a conhecer o trabalho desenvolvido no âmbito do projeto e os seus principais resultados.

O VI Congresso Ibérico da Dehesa e do Montado é promovido pela Junta da Extremadura, no âmbito do projeto de cooperação transfronteiriça CI_MONTADO-DEHESA, com a colaboração com diversas instituições portuguesas e espanholas, como é o caso do MED&CHANGE. A Universidade de Évora, através de investigadores do MED, participa na organização enquanto parceira do projeto CI_MONTADO-DEHESA.

XI PhD Students Meeting in Environment and Agriculture

The eleventh edition of the PhD Students Meeting in Environment and Agriculture (EEDAA) will take place on November 26 and 27, 2026, in the Conference Room at the University of Évora’s Mitra Campus.

The meeting aims to promote scientific discussion and knowledge exchange among PhD students and researchers working in the following areas:

  • Agricultural Sciences;

  • Biochemistry and Biotechnology;

  • Biology and Ecology;

  • Environment, Sustainability and Socioeconomic Development;

  • Food Sciences;

  • Veterinary Sciences and Animal Production.

The programme will include oral presentations, poster presentations and keynote lectures. The official language of the meeting is English.

Abstract submission is open to PhD students and other researchers. Only PhD students are eligible for oral presentations; work submitted by other participants will be presented as posters.

ITD27: International Transdisciplinarity (ITD) Conference - University of Évora

We are pleased to announce that the next International Transdisciplinarity (ITD) Conference, ITD27, will be hosted by the University of Évora in Évora, Portugal from 31 May through 4 June 2027.

ITD27 is organized in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Inter- and Transdisciplinarity (ITD Alliance), the Network for Transdisciplinary Research (td-net) at the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, MED – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development and CHANGE – Global Change and Sustainability Institute, at the University of Évora. The working title of the conference is “Bridging Knowledge and Networks: Inter- and Transdisciplinarity for Transformative Change”. Current themes being explored include the role of inter- and transdisciplinarity in systemic transformation across academia, funding institutions, policymaking, and other societal sectors, and how to strengthen networks that foster lasting collaboration. These discussions are still evolving and build on key insights from previous conferences. The goal is to co-create a space that deepens dialogue and connections across individuals, institutions, and global networks—advancing transformative change through collaboration.

The call for contributions is now open, inviting researchers, practitioners, policymakers, students, and other stakeholders to submit their contributions by June 30, 2026.

5TH INTERNATIONAL ELECTRONIC CONFERENCE ON METABOLOMICS

The 5th International Electronic Conference on Metabolomics (IECM2026) will take place from 14 to 16 October 2026, in an entirely online format.

IECM 2026 aims to explore and discuss the latest advances in metabolomics within a constantly evolving scientific and technological landscape. Maria João Lança, a researcher at MED, will be a member of the event’s scientific committee.

12TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FOOD CHEMISTRY & TECHNOLOGY

The 12th International Conference on Food Chemistry & Technology (FCT-2026) will take place in Valencia, Spain, from 19 to 21 October 2026.

The FCT Annual Conference is organised by the United Scientific Group and serves as a meeting point for the food research community, where chemists, analysts, scientists and early-career researchers come together to share cutting-edge research and innovations in the field of food science and technology.

Applications for poster presentations are currently open, with the top two entries receiving an award.

ALIMENTA SUMMIT’26

The first edition of the Alimenta Summit is scheduled for 29 and 30 October 2026, at the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre.

This edition, with the theme “Designing Healthier Food Systems”, aims to bring together universities, researchers, professionals, communities, students and institutional partners to promote dialogue between the fields of food, gastronomy, nutrition, health, hospitality and tourism, and food design.

V SYMPOSIUM ON CITRUS BIOTECHNOLOGY – CORSICA 2026

The date has now been set for the fifth edition of the International Symposium on Citrus Biotechnology.

The V International Symposium on Citrus Biotechnology will take place in Biguglia, Corsica, France, from 17 to 19 November 2026. Natália Marques, a researcher at MED, will be a member of the event’s scientific committee.

Registration is open until 16 November 2026.

Abstracts must be submitted by 15 September 2026.

RURDYNAMIX – INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RURAL DYNAMICS AND RESILIENCE

The International Conference on Rural Dynamics and Resilience will take place on 27 and 28 November 2026 in Baião, Porto.

RURDYNAMIX aims to bring together researchers, policy-makers, professionals and local stakeholders to discuss current challenges and future directions for rural and low-density areas, with a focus on resilience, innovation, sustainability, spatial planning and rural development. Maria Raquel Lucas, a researcher at MED, will be a member of the event’s scientific committee.

Abstracts must be submitted by 30 July 2026.

IV INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON TROPICAL AND SUBTROPICAL ORNAMENTALS

The IV International Symposium on Tropical and Subtropical Ornamentals (TSO) will take place from 19 to 22 January 2027 in Udon Thani, Thailand, in conjunction with the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026.
The aim of the symposium is to serve as an international platform for the exchange of knowledge, research findings and experiences in the field of tropical and subtropical ornamental plants amongst researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, growers, students and experts from around the world, whilst promoting discussions on innovation, sustainability and market developments.
The programme will include scientific sessions, technical visits and a special visit to the International Horticultural Expo, offering participants the opportunity to discover both Thailand’s horticultural diversity and its rich cultural heritage.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 15 August 2026.
