Doctor (PhD) in Agronomy by the Technical University of Madrid and the University of Évora is Professor of Biosystems Engineering at the Agrarian & Vet Sciences Dept at the Polytechnique Institute of Portalegre, researcher at MED - Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development(Farming Technology and Energy Efficiency group) of the University of Évora and member of the Society of Agrarian Sciences of Portugal. In addition to higher education has held positions in different central bodies such as Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor of the Agrarian School Council (2003 – 2006, 2006 – 2009) Chairman at the School Council (2013 - 2016), and member of the School Scientific Council (2006 – present). Currently is working in agricultural machinery management and sensorial technologies applied to crop monitoring, GHG emissions and livestock, and coordinates the National Center for Technological Innovation Skills in the Agroforestry Sector - InovTechAgro
