Isabel Palma (São Teotónio - Odemira, 1984). Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy (University of Lisbon) and in Environmental Engineering at Faculty of Science and Technology (Nova University Lisbon). PhD student in Interdisciplinary landscape management in Évora University. Between 2012 and 2015, I served as a researcher on the European project MARLISCO—Marine Litter in European Seas: Social Awareness and Co-Responsibility—at the Faculty of Science and Technology of Nova University Lisbon. I was responsible for developing the “Southwest Coast” application to maintain this site on the UNESCO World Heritage List, a project promoted by the Municipality of Odemira in collaboration with the municipalities of Aljezur, Sines, and Vila do Bispo. I have worked as a consultant on various projects and initiatives in the fields of nature-based tourism, environmental education, and science education, in collaboration with different organizations. I served as a city councillor for the Odemira City Council from 2021 to 2025, overseeing the departments of Education, Social Innovation, Sports, and Health. Since January 2026, I have been part of the CEBAL team on the SÊ CIÊNCIA project—Literacy and Education with Youth in Action. My main research interests include science communication, knowledge types, knowledge mediation, the disconnections between knowledge and action and, the interdisciplinary and holistic approaches to territory development, particularly in rural areas.
