Paulo Carvalho holds a degree in Zootechnical Engineering from the University of Évora and earned both his Master’s and PhD in Dairy Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (USA). He also completed two postdoctoral fellowships: the first at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he focused on reproductive biology, hormonal physiology, and data management in dairy cattle, and the second at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), where he worked on quantitative genetics, genotype × environment interactions, and economic evaluation in small ruminant systems. His research focuses on animal reproduction, nutrition, genetics, and the efficiency of ruminant production systems, with particular emphasis on fertility, productivity, animal welfare, and the sustainability of livestock production. He is the author of several peer-reviewed scientific publications in international journals and is listed among the top researchers in Animal Science and Veterinary on Research.com.
