MED às 4as returns on April 15th, at 14:00 (Lisbon time) for another session dedicated to sharing scientific knowledge produced within MED.

This session will feature:

  • Maria Helena Guimarães, researcher at MED, who will present “The SOLO Initiative and the Erosion Prevention Think Tank”, introducing the SOLO project and the role of Think Tanks in developing transdisciplinary roadmaps for soil-related research and innovation across Europe;

  • Ana Caroline Royer, collaborator at MED, who will present “The Erosion Prevention Roadmap: from gaps to actions”, focusing on the work developed within the Erosion Prevention Think Tank, including the identification of knowledge gaps, priority actions, and bottlenecks related to soil erosion mitigation in Europe.

Join us at the Conference Room of the Mitra Campus, University of Évora, or online (access link HERE).

More about his session

The SOLO project aims to deliver actionable transdisciplinary roadmaps for future soil-related research and innovation activities in the EU, contributing to the objectives of the EU Soil Mission. To achieve this overarching goal, the project employs a transdisciplinary task force known as Think Tanks (TTs). Comprising 10 Think Tanks, SOLO aligns these entities with the specific objectives established by the EU Mission Soil Deal for Europe.

The Prevent Erosion TT engaged stakeholders in the identification of solutions to the problem of soil erosion and its prevention and mitigation. Since the beginning of the project, TT members have been discussing the knowledge gaps (KGs) related to soil erosion in Europe. Through a collaborative process, stakeholders identified the main actions and bottlenecks associated with ten priority knowledge gaps. This work resulted in a Soil Erosion Roadmap, which outlines the key Knowledge gaps, proposed actions, and bottlenecks to reduce soil erosion at the European scale. By developing this roadmap, the Prevent Erosion Think Tank aims to support the advancement of research and innovation in soil erosion prevention and contribute to future strategic initiatives within the European context.
