MED researchers took part in the 11th edition of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) PhD Workshop

MED researchers took part in the 11th edition of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) PhD Workshop, which took place at the University of Évora between 17 and 19 June 2026, under the theme “Innovation for a Resilient Agri-food Chain in a Changing World”.

This is one of the most important European forums dedicated to the training and development of the next generation of researchers in Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Development Economics.

Over the course of three days, PhD students, researchers and experts from various European countries discussed challenges and opportunities relating to innovation in agri-food systems, adaptation to climate change, artificial intelligence, supply chains, food waste, sustainable diets, public policy and international trade.

MED’s participation was marked by the presence of Maria Raquel Lucas, a MED integrated member, lecturer in the Department of Management at the University of Évora and Liaison Officer for the EAAE, who served on the workshop’s Scientific Committee and coordinated two scientific sessions at the event.

MED was also represented by a team of young researchers, including 10 students from the PhD Programme in Agribusiness and Sustainability and MED collaborators, who presented their projects and the results of their ongoing research. Their participation contributed to the international scientific debate on building more resilient, innovative and sustainable agri-food systems.
