Seminar | Beyond the Lab: how Citizen Science is transforming research

The lecture “Beyond the Lab: how Citizen Science is transforming research” will take place on April 30th at 14:30, at Amphitheatre 1, Colégio Luís António Verney, University of Évora.

The session will be delivered by Cristina Castracani, Adjunct Professor of Citizen Science at the University of Parma and member of the Citizen Science task force of the EU GREEN Alliance. Her research interests focus on animal behaviour, biodiversity monitoring, and public engagement in science.

Citizen science is changing the way research is done by involving volunteers, students, and communities directly in the scientific process. This talk will explore what citizen science is, present inspiring examples from different disciplines, and highlight how it can make academic research more open, impactful, and connected to society. Cristina Castracani’s work focuses on animal behaviour, biodiversity monitoring, and public engagement in science.
