About us

O LABscape tem vindo a consolidar progressivamente a sua posição como equipa de investigação desde 2002 - e continua em constante evolução. Fazemos parte do MED - Instituto Mediterrânico para a Agricultura, Ambiente e Desenvolvimento (https://www.med.uevora.pt/), da Universidade de Évora, e do Lab CHANGE - Instituto de Alterações Globais e Sustentabilidade, que reúne equipas de investigadores das Universidades de Évora, Nova de Lisboa, Lisboa e Açores.

Centramo-nos nas paisagens rurais do Mediterrâneo e nos seus complexos processos de mudança, desde os recursos naturais às actividades humanas e às comunidades: como mudam, porque mudam, para onde provavelmente se dirigem, o que se ganha e o que se perde, como podem ser geridas e governadas de forma mais eficaz e sustentável. Adoptamos uma abordagem sistémica e somos profundamente interdisciplinares. Defendemos que, ao combinarmos várias disciplinas nos nossos projectos, métodos e discussões quotidianas, o nosso trabalho conjunto conduz a uma compreensão mais completa do mundo complexo e incerto que nos rodeia e reforça a nossa capacidade de adaptação enquanto investigadores. A interdisciplinaridade define, portanto, a nossa singularidade e força como uma fonte óbvia de inovação para formular questões de investigação e conceber caminhos para a sustentabilidade.

Somos uma equipa internacionalmente competitiva de 12 pós-docs experientes e investigadores juniores associados. Temos estado envolvidos em vários projectos europeus, incluindo oito projectos H2020, e estamos atualmente envolvidos em três Horizontes Europa, dois LIFE +, um PRIMA secção 1 e um PRIMA secção 2, entre outros, a níveis que vão desde a UE (ERASMUS +, MSCA-Marie Curie) até ao nível nacional, regional e local (FCT, Directórios Regionais e Câmaras Municipais). Fazemos parte de conselhos consultivos científicos nacionais e europeus. Reunimos conhecimentos especializados em geografia e planeamento rural, avaliação de políticas, deteção remota, análise e modelação espacial, ecologia e engenharia da paisagem, degradação e recuperação de solos, investigação sócio-metabólica, governação, mecanismos de inovação e processos transdisciplinares de co-construção de conhecimento.

Para além da investigação, somos uma plataforma fundamental para a inovação social e institucional na nossa região, fazendo a ponte para os níveis nacional e internacional (UE e pan-mediterrânico). Dispomos de um capital de confiança materializado em relações com múltiplos actores a nível local, regional, nacional e europeu. O envolvimento efetivo destas partes interessadas é um elemento-chave de toda a nossa investigação aplicada. A nossa ambição é apoiar e informar a tomada de decisões baseadas em factos por parte das empresas privadas e da administração pública.

LABscape coordena Cátedra do Solo e Living Lab do Montado

A Cátedra do Solo, cuja sessão de constituição decorreu no passado dia 8 de janeiro, resulta de uma parceria entre a Universidade de Évora e a empresa BOVICER, proprietária da Herdade da Parreira, em Montemor-o-Novo, reconhecida como um exemplo de sustentabilidade na produção agrícola, com base na Agricultura de Conservação. Os objetivos desta Cátedra são apoiar o desenvolvimento de investigação sobre práticas regenerativas do solo no contexto da região do Alentejo, promover a agricultura de conservação, assegurar a recolha, organização e análise dos dados dos respetivos trabalhos e que os mesmos possam estar disponíveis para fins de investigação por entidades do sistema nacional de investigação, e por fim, contribuir para a formação e treino de investigadores especializados em métodos de regeneração da saúde do solo nocontexto da região Alentejo, assim como de empresários e técnicos. A coordenação da Cátedra do Solo é da responsabilidade da Professora Teresa Pinto Correia.

Salienta-se ainda a assinatura da parceria para a criação do Living Lab do Montado. Este Laboratório Vivo para a regeneração do Sistema Agro-Silvo Pastoril do Montado conta com a participação de 40 parceiros e, é coordenado pela Professora Teresa Pinto Correia.
